Consolidation set the tone this week. Frasers moved on Hugo Boss, Asics carved out Onitsuka Tiger, and the UK regulator turned its attention to eBay and Depop, a reminder that dealmaking and scrutiny are rising together. Underneath it, the consumer picture hardened: US wholesale inflation jumped on the Iran oil shock, shoppers are trimming everything from gas tanks to small luxuries, and secondhand is graduating into a mainstream asset class with Vinted at a $9 billion valuation. Capital markets, meanwhile, showed no such restraint, with SpaceX pricing a record $75 billion IPO and Zepto inching toward its own listing. And in tech, Walmart is putting AI in the hands of store associates while OpenAI weighs price cuts for a coming user war, proof that AI competition is now a retail cost question, not just a Silicon Valley one.

What Is Cosmeticorexia? The Trend Reshaping Beauty Brands
Children as young as eight now run 10-step skincare routines, and dermatologists have a name for it: cosmeticorexia. With Gen Alpha spending $4.7 billion on beauty and regulators in Italy and California circling, every brand now faces a positioning question it cannot avoid. In India, where the teen skincare market is growing faster than its guardrails, the brands that self-impose discipline early will own the trust premium when scrutiny arrives.
